What is Cabo San Lucas Best Known For?

Cabo San Lucas is usually referred to simply as Cabo, and it is one of Mexico’s top tourist destinations. It also happens to be our main base of operations here at High Tide Los Cabos. As you’ve clicked through to this guide, there’s a strong chance you’re at least slightly interested in this incredible destination right on the tip of the Baja California Peninsula.

We’d like to discuss a few things Cabo is known for, hopefully convincing a few readers sitting on the fence to stop dragging their feet and start planning some fun in the sun! We are writing to inform and inspire, but if anything we say impresses you and you’d like to try out one of our experiences, we’d like to invite you to check out our full range of adventure tours in Cabo.

The Arch of Cabo San Lucas (El Arco)

Let’s get the biggest hitter out of the way first of all! The Arch of Cabo San Lucas is a rather impressive rock formation just on the southern tip of Cabo.

The locals refer to this striking archway of rock above the water as El Arco and it is a focal point for much of the water sports and general fun in the sun in Cabo as it’s one of the most photogenic spots in the area. If you’d like to see El Arco up close, you can take our Cabo Kayaking & Snorkelling Tour at the Arch.

Cabo’s Stunning Blue Flag Beaches

Everybody loves a good beach. And blue-flag status means a beach is of the highest possible quality. The issue with Cabo’s beaches is that there are 19 blue flag beaches, so it’s sometimes impossible to choose which stunning beach to visit! This is a wonderful problem to have!

And if you’re here long enough then we suggest you visit as many beaches as you can. Perhaps you can get all 19 by the end! Blue flag beaches are clean, safe, and accessible, meaning a lot of work is done to keep them in pristine condition.

Cabo is Great for Surfing

Cabo offers a lot of the best surfing in all of Mexico, with surfers finding a rich mixture of northern swells along the Pacific coast, on the north-west of Cabo, and consistent summer swells in the Sea of Cortex to the east, at Costa Azul Beach.

There’s too much to discuss about surfing in Cabo to possibly cover it all here, so it’s handy we’ve got a short guide to surfing in Cabo San Lucas. If you’d like to surf on your next visit to Cabo, take a look at our Cabo Surf Lessons at Cerritos.

The Beautiful District of San Jose Del Cabo

Scuba Diving and Snorkelling in Cabo San Lucas

The scuba diving and snorkelling in Cabo San Lucas is also second to none! The coral reef there is vibrant and colorful, with a staggering array of animal and plant species. All proper guides working within this field will be careful to practice sustainable tourism, making sure that no damage is caused to the reef or its inhabitants.

If you’re talking to a snorkelling or scuba diving professional who doesn’t have the official accreditations, turn away and go to someone who can help you experience the incredible reef properly. If you’d like to come with us, we offer a great fun combination experience: our Cabo Kayaking and Snorkeling Tour.

That’s all we have time for today. We hope this guide has convinced some readers to visit Cabo on their next trip to Mexico. It really is a special place and all of us at High Tide Los Cabos are exceptionally lucky to live, work, and play here! If you have any questions about the tours and experiences mentioned in this guide, please feel free to get in touch.
